Features and Festival Success in August

Always good to see films I’ve worked on getting recognition at the festivals. A film I had a lot of fun with has recently done well at the New Renaissance Film Festival in London with an honourable mention and a few nominations.

At the moment I’m working on my first feature length film. It’s dialogue heavy so I’ve been fine tuning my Pro Tools > Izotope RX workflow. I’ve found it handy to go through a scene and get each clip level right so that just the BG noise matches up, then committing the clips together and sending that committed clip over to RX via the connect tool. I’ve also learnt to go easy when denoising as even the best technology still introduces artefacts. And you can always rely on a good ambiance track to mask any remaining noise.

I’ll never not be amazed at how good RX is. Here’s a satisfying moment of me removing intermittent mobile phone interference with one click:
